Mittal worker dies from burns in Indiana Harbor plant mishap

A Mittal Steel USA worker has died from burns sustained in an accident at the company's Indiana Harbor plant in East Chicago, Ind.

Daniel Spencer, 54, of Merrillville, Ind., was working as bander/marker on the coiler end of the company's 84-inch hot-strip mill Friday morning when a fire broke out in the basement, a Mittal spokesman said. Flames shot through spaces in the floor, where areas are open to permit various conveyers to move, and....
