Minn. grants environment permits for Northshore Mining iron ore plan

A Minnesota state agency has issued air and water permits to Northshore Mining Co., Silver Bay, Minn., which is looking to expand into iron ore concentrate production for eventual use by the steel industry.

Several groups testified against the move at Tuesday's hearing by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency's Citizens' Board, including the Center for Environmental Advocacy and the Sierra Club. The groups requested a delay in....
