'Panic' selling out of China sends indium prices spiraling downward

Indium prices continue to soften as Chinese sellers unload material on the spot market because of concerns that prices could weaken further.

The specialty metal, used primarily in flat-screen televisions, has fallen $100 per kilogram to a range of $840 to $880 per kg., and traders are predicting prices could fall below $800 before year-end.

Demand has softened as Japanese consumers stay out of the spot market and Chinese sellers slash prices ahead of further predicted price erosion, traders said.....
