SeverCorr venture contracts SMS Demag to supply Mississippi mini-mill equipment

SeverCorr LLC, the joint venture between Russia's JSC Severstal and SteelCorr LLC, Birmingham, Ala., has placed an order with German plantmaker SMS Demag AG, Düsseldorf, Germany, to supply the production facilities for its new steel works.
The mini-mill, to be built in Columbus, Miss., will consist of an electric-arc furnace, a ladle furnace, a vacuum degasser, a compact strip processing plant to make thin slab, a six-stand hot-strip mill and a cold-rolling complex with a five-stand tandem pickling line, a skin pass mill....
