Stelco cogeneration plan gets Canada funding

The Canadian federal government will contribute Canadian $30 million ($25.7 million) to the cost of Stelco Inc.'s proposed near-term energy cogeneration projects, the Hamilton, Ontario,-based steelmaker said.
The energy cogeneration plan forms part of Stelco's capital expenditure program, which the company said is essential to its ability to remain a viable steel producer in North America.
The federal contribution will be made through Environment Canada's Partnership Fund, an initiative that among other things aims to facilitate project-specific climate-change investment. Stelco said it expects to receive the funding during the first quarter of next year.....
