Zinifex sees continued shortages, higher costs

Zinifex Ltd., Melbourne, Australia, expects shortages of lead and zinc concentrate to continue, but the vertically integrated producer should be insulated from the worst effects of the shortfall, company executives said at its annual meeting.
Of more immediate concern, they said, are rising operating costs-led by higher oil prices-that have been offset so far by higher realized prices for lead and zinc. Costs were up 10 percent in the fiscal year ended June 30 and Zinifex is predicting another 10-percent rise in the current fiscal year.....
