Possible Falcondo strike expected to have limited nickel mart impact

A possible strike at Falconbridge Ltd.'s ferronickel plant in the Dominican Republic would create only a slight tightening of the market as the mills that process the alloy would have to compete for feed, traders said Tuesday.

Unionized workers at Falconbridge Dominicana C por A (Falcondo) are currently negotiating a new labor contract with management. Their current three-year contract expires Nov. 30. Neither side has given a clear indication so far as to how the....
