US raw steel production at six-month high

Raw steel output in the United States totaled 2,032,000 tons last week, a 2-percent increase from 1,993,000 tons produced the previous week, as mills operated at an average capability utilization rate of 87.9 percent. It was the highest weekly total since mid-May.

In the corresponding week last year, mills produced 2,030,000 tons at an average capability utilization rate of 91.8 percent, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute, Washington.....
