Mopani signs deal to take copper concentrate from Zambia project

Zambia's Mopani Copper Mines Plc, a majority-owned subsidiary of Swiss trading group Glencore International AG, has signed a letter of intent with Equinox Minerals Ltd. to take copper concentrate from the Australia-based company's 140,000-tonne-per-year open-pit Lumwana copper-gold mine in northwest Zambia.
The agreement between Mopani and Equinox is not legally binding, but a final sales agreement for an undisclosed portion of the Lumwana concentrate should be finalized in the first quarter of 2006. The project is scheduled to begin production in the second half of 2007.....
