Rail strike threatens Chile copper deliveries

A strike by workers at Chilean rail company Ferrocarril de Antofagasta a Bolivia (FCAB) has cut shipments to 90 percent of normal levels, threatening copper deliveries from Chile's largest copper mines to the country's ports.

The railroad is the main shipment route for copper from Minera Escondida Ltda., Phelps Dodge Corp.'s El Abra Mine and state-owned Corporacion Nacional del Cobre de Chile's (Codelco) Norte division, which includes the Chuquicamata Mine.....
