Michigan incentive spurs Rifkin to move to former Ferro-Met site

Rifkin Scrap Iron & Metal Co., echoing events elsewhere in the United States, has accepted a benefits package to move away from its 10-acre site on the Saginaw River in Michigan.

A local newspaper described the deal as "a key victory for civic boosters who want to revitalize the waterfront."

Scrapyards have been pressured to move inland in such places as Louisville, Ky., and Omaha, Neb. Kingston, N.Y., is a possible future addition to the list.....
