S. Korea sinks US lead exports in September

U.S. lead scrap exporters didn't get as much of the lead out of the country in September as they did the previous month, largely due to reduced purchases by South Korea.

Exports sagged 14.6 percent to 5,246 short tons from 6,142 tons in August, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Commerce Department.

But even with a weakened charge in foreign sales in September, the Commerce figures showed the industry boosting its year-to-date shipments by 24.1 percent to 56,507 tons from 45,545 tons in the first nine months of 2004.....
