US copper premiums steady on good demand from users

U.S. copper premiums are firm thanks to surging freight rates and strong consumer demand for cathode, trade sources said.

Premiums are currently 6.75 to 7.25 cents a pound delivered and could hold at this level for the remainder of the year.

The normal seasonal slowdown has not materialized, and manufacturers of such copper products as tube, wire and pipe are reporting full order books for December and into the New Year, sources said.....
