Japanese union requesting pay hikes for 2006-07

The Japan Federation of Basic Industry Workers' union (JBU) will ask for a wage increase for workers in the steelmaking, nonferrous metal smelting and shipbuilding industries in negotiations next year, a JBU official said.
"We will ask for a 3,000-yen ($25) pay hike per worker per month for 2006 and 2007 when we start negotiations with companies in February next year," the official said. If successful, workers in the....
