Carpenter sells special products unit to WHI

Carpenter Technology Corp. has sold off its special products subsidiary in a bid to concentrate on its core business activities.
The Wyomissing, Pa.,-based specialty metals producer said it sold Carpenter Special Products Corp., El Cajon, Calif., to Chicago-based private equity firm WHI Capital Partners.
Jaime Vasquez, Carpenter's vice president and treasurer, declined to say much about the transaction or specify a sales price.
"Part of our company's strategy is to focus on our specialty material businesses," Vasquez said.
Since 1961, Carpenter Special Products has been making nuclear reactor tubing and fuel channel assemblies from specialty steel received from its parent company.....
