Outlook bleak for automotive CBSA survey

U.S. copper and brass mills and service centers expect demand from the automotive sector to weaken in the first half of next year as questions hang over future production levels.

Shipments of products to the automotive industry are expected to drop by 2.1 percent in the first half of 2006 compared with the same period this year, according to a survey by the Copper & Brass Servicenter Association (CBSA), Wayne, Pa. Respondents, including metal strip platers, also forecast a drop of 2.5 percent in first-half 2006 shipments compared with the second half of this year.....
