Usiminas lays plan for 5M-tonne slab-for-export venture in Brazil

Brazilian flat-products steelmaker Usinas Siderúrgicas de Minas Gerais SA (Usiminas) plans to build a 5-million-tonne-a-year steel works to produce slab for export.
The new venture, with an estimated cost of $3 billion, will be undertaken in conjunction with national and international partners that are expected to include Cia. Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD), Rio de Janeiro, which would supply iron ore for the proposed integrated....
