China alumina imports jump after de-stocking

China's alumina imports soared 63.3 percent to 680,000 tonnes in November from 416,483 tonnes the previous month, according to preliminary Chinese Customs data, pushing the 11-month total to 6.44 million tonnes, up 18.4 percent from a year earlier.
The November import jump followed heavy de-stocking of alumina during the first 10 months of the year, Macquarie Research analysts said in a report. The resumption of buying in November appeared to be a major catalyst behind the jump in spot alumina prices to around $620 a tonne, c.i.f. China, in November, it....
