BHP approves $518M investment for expansion of alumina refinery

Mining giant BHP Billiton said it would spend $518 million to expand capacity at the Aluminio do Maranhao (Alumar) alumina refinery in Sao Luis, Brazil.
The expansion project will raise annual alumina production capacity by 2 million tonnes to 3.5 million tonnes per year. Commissioning is expected to be completed in mid-2008,....
