Copper and brass values gain in Defense contractor auction

A federal contractor auctioned off $1.9 million worth of U.S. Defense Department metal scrap on its Web site Tuesday, with copper and brass prices ranging mostly between $1.31 and $1.68 a pound.
A similar auction in November priced copper and brass items, other than wire, at a somewhat lower range of $1.24 to $1.45 a pound.
At the high end of the price range, mixed high-temperature alloy scrap in Jacksonville, Fla., went for $5.06 a pound, which included titanium T23 and stainless steel parts, such as engine gears.....
