Ameristeel gets grant to expand N. Carolina mill

Gerdau Ameristeel Corp., Tampa, Fla., has received a $300,000 grant from the state of North Carolina to expand its mini-mill in Charlotte, N.C.
Gerdau Ameristeel is planning a three-year, $26.3-million expansion of the mill, where it produces reinforcing bar and merchant products for the construction industry. The plant also manufactures wire mesh, nails and rail spikes.....
