Quadra seals buy of Carlota copper project

Quadra Mining Ltd., Vancouver, British Columbia, has completed its purchase of the Carlota copper project from Cambior Inc. in a deal valued at $37.5 million.

Carlota, a copper-oxide deposit in Arizona, is expected to produce 66 million pounds of cathode annually during an 11-year mine life.

"The acquisition builds our position as a pure-play copper producer and with another project in the United States provides a natural currency hedge to the U.S.-dollar-denominated copper price," Paul Blythe, Quadra's chief executive officer, said in a statement Thursday.....
