Environmental mishap unlikely to faze US zinc market, for now

The shutdown of China's third-largest zinc smelter because of a toxic chemical spill will have little immediate effect on U.S. markets, trade sources said.

Zinc alloyers said China doesn't export any zinc, and U.S. supplies should not be affected by the shutdown of the Shaoguan zinc smelter after an accidental spill contaminated a river in southern China.....
