Julius Uehlein, founding member of United Steelworkers, dies at 88

Julius Bernard Uehlein, 88, a co-founder of the United Steelworkers union, has died in a nursing home in Washington, D.C., of cardiopulmonary failure brought on by pneumonia.
USW president Leo W. Gerard praised Uehlein's history with the union. "Uehlein played a critical role in the evolution of our union and a crucial role in the Pennsylvania labor movement when the state was at the very heart of the nation's industrial development," he said.....
