EPA's aluminum crackdown targets Wis. smelter, others The latest secondary aluminum smelter to be hit with a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) violation report is one operated by engine manufacturer Mercury Marine Group, Fond du Lac, Wis.The facility failed to test for hazardous dioxin and furan air emissions, a requirement that became effective in March 2003, the EPA said, which also alleged various other monitoring and record-keeping lapses.
