China tightens controls on aluminum industry In a bid to cool its overheating aluminum industry, the Chinese government has introduced a series of measures aimed at slowing the activities of small and medium-sized smelters that import alumina and export primary metal.According to a notice released Monday, China's Ministry of Commerce and the General Administration of Customs will prevent aluminum smelters that export metal and have capacities below 100,000 tonnes a year from importing alumina, effective immediately.....
