Cliffs' 3d-qtr. profits hit $87.5M; Brinzo touts '04 'transformation'

A strong North American business environment and near-record levels of steel pricing helped Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. post third-quarter earnings of $87.5 million in contrast to a $4.8-million loss in the year-earlier quarter, the company said Thursday.

John Brinzo, Cliffs' chairman and chief executive officer, said 2004 is expected to be a record year for the Cleveland-based company in many respects.....
