DaimlerChrysler allows more time for producer to assure steel supply

Stelco Inc., Hamilton, Ontario, has been given more time to provide DaimlerChrysler AG with assurances in regard to availability of steel supply. The original deadline of Oct. 31 has been extended to Nov. 18.
Stelco still is trying to iron out its differences with General Motors Corp., Detroit, which last week agreed to withdraw a bankruptcy court motion seeking to drop all of its 2005 business with Stelco. GM still plans to secure other sources of steel for the first quarter of 2005.....
