Latin America on track to produce 60M tonnes of raw steel in '04 Ilafa

Latin American steelmakers are expected to achieve an 8.4-percent jump in raw steel production this year, the third consecutive annual increase, taking output past the 60-million-tonne mark for the first time.
Strong home and export markets plus turnarounds in Argentina and Venezuela are credited for the gain.
Raw steel production in 2004 is expected to reach 60.6 million tonnes, up from a record 59.6 million tonnes last year, according to a forecast published by the Latin American Iron and Steel Institute (Ilafa).....
