Alcoa ships alumina from Jamalco; status of force majeure uncertain

Alcoa Inc. confirmed Wednesday that it has resumed shipments of alumina from the Jamaica Alumina Co. (Jamalco) refinery.

Alcoa's 60-percent-owned subsidiary, Alcoa World Alumina Co., which owns 50 percent of Jamalco, ceased deliveries in preparation for the arrival of Hurricane Ivan. While the refinery itself wasn't badly damaged by the....
