AK works to settle environmental allegations

AK Steel Corp., Middletown, Ohio, is negotiating on two fronts to settle alleged environmental violations at plants in Ohio and Kentucky.

According to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the steelmaker is negotiating with the Kentucky Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) on alleged violations at its Ashland, Ky. plant. The Kentucky DEP says that AK Steel improperly disposed of residual material at an off-site location.....
