Stelco, Casey evaluating five bids for shuttered plate mill in Hamilton

Stelco Inc., Hamilton, Ontario, has received five offers for its plate mill, the sale of which is part of its overall restructuring plan to dispose of non-core assets and concentrate on its flat-rolled steel operations.
Colin Osborne, senior vice president of strategy at the Canadian steelmaker, said Monday morning during a conference call with steel industry analysts that the company was in the process of evaluating the bids it received prior to last Friday's deadline. Osborne said it was too soon....
