Hungry for energy, Phelps Dodge to acquire stake in NM power plant

Phelps Dodge Corp., Phoenix, has agreed to buy one-third of a power plant in New Mexico to help power part of its operations in the region.
The company expects construction of the 570-megawatt plant in Deming, N.M., to be completed by summer 2006.....
