UK plans new scrap grades for packaging, incineration

The British Metals Recycling Association, U.K. Steel and the Cast Metals Federation have jointly proposed the creation of two new ferrous scrap grades encompassing material reclaimed from metal packaging and incineration.

The groups have proposed a new grade for metal packaging such as cans and aerosols, loose and baled, and a grade for metallics that result from incineration and waste treatment facilities, also loose and baled, according to Richard Welburn, technical manager of U.K. Steel, an operating division of the Engineering Employers' Federation that represents steel producers in Britain.....
