Friedman results up despite halt to Nucor coil

Steel coil processing and pipe manufacturing and distribution company Friedman Industries Inc. said earnings and sales during its fiscal second quarter and six-month period jumped sharply, although its coil product segment tonnages declined after a business unit suspended purchases of non-standard coils from Nucor Corp.
The Houston-based company posted net income of nearly $2 million for the three months ended Sept. 30 vs. $291,000 a year earlier on sales that soared 92.9 percent to $49 million.....
