Talks at the El Abra copper mine in northern Chile resumed as striking workers blocked the mine access road for 17 hours as part of their campaign for a better wage agreement."From 3 a.m. until 8 p.m. Nov. 17 the road was blocked. The police were present, but the blockade was peaceful," said Cipriano Zuluaga, president of the Federación Minera de Chile union. A previous confrontation with the police resulted in a number of arrests and several injuries (AMM, Nov. 15).....
