Wrongful-death suit filed vs. Gerdau Ameristeel

A wrongful-death lawsuit has been filed against Gerdau Ameristeel Corp. by the widow of a worker killed last year when a 15-ton bucket handle fell from a crane onto his head at the company's Jacksonville, Fla., mill.
Jennifer Owens Roach filed suit in Duval County Circuit Court in Jacksonville against Gerdau Ameristeel and Alliance Machine Co., Wilmington, Del., the maker of the overhead crane. Her husband of nine years, Max Owens Jr., 38, died July 7, 2003.....
