$200M galvanizing investment eyed by USSK

U.S. Steel Corp. is looking at investing about $200 million in a new hot-dip galvanizing line for its Slovakian subsidiary, a move that would allow the unit to become a major supplier to the growing automotive market in eastern Europe.

The line would be built at U.S. Steel Kosice s.r.o. (USSK), the Pittsburgh-based steelmaker's mill in Kosice, Slovakia. Christopher J. Navetta, president of USSK, said earlier this year that part of the unit's growth plans included the construction of a hot-dip galvanizing line (AMM, Dec. 6).....
