Winning bids for Boeing scrap fly higher

Winning bids for aluminum scrap rose an average of 5 percent in Boeing Co.'s latest quarterly auction for material to be generated at facilities in Washington state during the first three months of 2005.
Allied Metal Co., a Chicago smelter, won the briquetted aluminum borings from the Auburn plant for the second consecutive quarter, while Bermco Aluminum Co., a Birmingham, Ala., smelter, won the equivalent material at Fredrickson.
Allied's winning bids for the two Auburn lots were 56.21 cents a pound, up by 4 percent from the last competition three months ago, and 55.71 cents a pound, a 5-percent increase, while Bermco's winning bids were 57.93 cents a pound (up 7 percent) and 56.77 cents a pound (up 5 percent).....
