Waxman charged with $20M PSC fraud

Former scrap metal executive Robert Waxman was charged with fraud Monday after allegedly siphoning off more than $20 million from Philip Services Corp. (PSC) during the mid-1990s.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) charged Waxman with 12 counts of fraud exceeding $5,000. If convicted, Waxman faces a maximum penalty of 14 years in prison.

According to an RCMP spokesman, the criminal charges were filed in a Hamilton, Ontario, court Monday morning. He said that Waxman was in attendance but said nothing while the charges were officially filed.....
