Boeing Kan. bidding brings some double-digit increases

Winning offers for two key aluminum scrap items increased by 15 percent in Boeing Co.'s auction of scrap material expected to be generated at its aircraft plant in Wichita, Kan., during the first quarter.
The largest item, briquetted aluminum borings, was won by Spectro Alloys Corp., Rosemount, Minn., with a bid of 58.56 cents a pound, up 15 percent from September's bidding for fourth-quarter material. The Chicago-based aircraft manufacturer anticipates 1.25 million pounds becoming available in the first three months of 2005.....
