China, Turkey help lift shredded exports

U.S. exports of shredded scrap inched upward in October, spurred by stronger sales to China and Turkey.
Exports of the fragmented scrap totaled 334,538 tonnes in October, up 0.5 percent from 332,925 tonnes the previous month, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Commerce Department.
The Chinese took 123,047 tonnes of shredded in October, more than double the 47,702 tonnes they purchased from U.S. suppliers in September. China remains the leading market for U.S. shredded scrap exporters, with its year-to-date intake of 1,159,411 tonnes more than double the 460,515 tonnes purchased by its nearest rival, South Korea.....
