BIR asks China to push back deadline on license system

The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) has called on the Chinese government to once again roll back the registration deadline for a controversial import licensing system for scrap companies shipping into China.

In a recent letter, BIR officials formally asked China's Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) to again delay enforcement of the rules beyond the current Jan. 1 deadline. According to the BIR and other recycling groups, the AQSIQ has failed to issue a complete list of recycling companies certified by the Chinese government.....
