A steel processor has taken over a Japanese-U.S. venture near the Mexican border as it continues to expand in the Southwest.

Los Angeles-based NexCoil Inc. has purchased the assets of San Diego Coil Center Inc. from Mitsui & Co. Ltd. of Japan and Mi-Tech Steel Inc. Mi-Tech Steel is a joint venture of Mitsui Steel Development Inc., a U.S. subsidiary of Mitsui & Co., and Louisville, Ky.,-based Steel Technologies Inc.
