China set to abolish export tax rebates Jan. 1

China has quietly ended weeks of rumor and speculation and finally posted a long-awaited announcement on the abolition of aluminum and ferroalloy export tax rebates.
According to the announcement, export tax rebates on aluminum and ferroalloys--including ferrochrome, ferrocolumbium, ferromanganese, ferromolybdenum, ferronickel, ferrosilicon, ferrovanadium, silicochrome, silicomanganese, silicotitanium and silicotungsten--will all be abolished beginning Jan. 1, 2005.
