Mediators stop the clock on Boeing strike countdown

An 11th-hour appeal from federal mediators has stopped the clock ticking on a strike countdown at Boeing Co.'s St. Louis operation.

Just an hour before it was due to issue a "seven-day intent" letter to Boeing that could have resulted in a walkout on June 23, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) received a request from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) asking the union to meet with Boeing.....
