Alcan to build alloy casthouse in France

Rio Tinto Alcan will invest €42.5 million ($54.8 million) in its rolling mill in Issoire and research center in Voreppe, both in France, in an effort to expand its production of lightweight aluminum-lithium alloys for use in the aerospace sector.
The investment will be used to construct an industrial casthouse at Issoire capable of producing aluminum-lithium alloys, the Montreal-based company said Tuesday, as well as to develop new applications for its Airware-brand alloys at Voreppe.....
