Caterpillar plans series of expansions across the U.S.

Caterpillar Inc. has announced three expansion projects during the past few weeks, delivering on a promise made earlier this year to invest more in American manufacturing assets while still growing its operations abroad, especially in China.
Caterpillar plans to break ground next month in Victoria, Texas, for a $100-million-plus, 600,000-square-foot hydraulic excavator manufacturing facility that could begin production as soon as summer 2012. Once fully ramped up, the factory will triple Caterpillar's U.S. capacity to produce hydraulic excavators and double the number of people employed to make those excavators in the U.S.....
