Ryerson opening second center in Mexico

Metals processor and distributor Ryerson Inc. is opening its second service center in Mexico, with company executives confident in the move despite a market that's getting more crowded every year.
The 56,000-square-foot Monterrey facility, which will offer carbon and stainless steel and aluminum products when operations begin Aug. 30, will put the Chicago-based company closer to customers that have long been serviced from branches in Arizona, California and Texas.
"It will be a general-line stocking location to start, with a complement of the same products we sell throughout North America," chief financial officer Terence Rogers told AMM Thursday, and over time "we will add processing capabilities."
The company divested its interest in a joint venture with a Mexican steel distributor in 2008 and began looking for independent options. Last year, Ryerson opened branches in Nogales, Mexicali, near the Arizona border, and McAllen, Texas, on the border with Mexico.....
