China steel output to stay low in 4th quarter as more cuts seen ahead

China's crude steel output will remain low in the fourth quarter, the China Iron and Steel Association (Cisa) forecast, estimating a daily average of 1.63 million tonnes in the first 10 days of October.
While that figure is down 3 percent from the last 10 days of September, it is slightly above the full-month average of 1.62 million tonnes per day.
Central government-ordered production and power cuts aimed at meeting national emissions targets sent September's daily production to the lowest level since December last year, according to China's National Statistics Bureau, and Cisa said that local governments are expected to order more production and power cuts to help meet emissions targets.....
